Abstract:
The Epidemiology of poliomgelitis has been investigated in our country Pasteur Institute; the incidence of Poliomgelitis, after the age of 4 years i's rare, in Iran. Passive antibody of maternal origin do not interfere with production of active antibody after immunization. Inactivated Polio Vaccine (salk) has been effective in reducing the incidence of poliomgelitis by approximately 90 per cent get Paralytic disease, has continued to occur in immunized person with salk vaccine. The immunity produced by live oral Poliovivus Vaccine appears to be as good as after natural infection. The oral vaccine is capable of producing both serologic and somatic (intestinal) immunity, this has a great importance to eleminate the vivus from a given population or to stop an epidemy of poliomgelitis by routine and massive oral vaccination. Oral Polio Vaccine is given in three doses, one or two months apart, in the non-Polio seasons it ean be given at the time of D.P.T. immunization, the 1st booster is usually given 6 - 12 months later and then few other doses are given till the age of 6 years old.

Vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis.
In the wake of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) program to eradicate poliomyelitis globally by the end of the year 2000 (in 1997 only 5,186 cases were reported world-wide), attention has focussed on the importance of good surveillance of acute flaccid paralysis, which is essential for a country to qualify for being declared polio-free, and on the occurrence of vaccine–associated paralytic ...

Stability studies play a critical role in assuring product quality at all points in the vaccine life cycle. These studies used to determine vaccine expiry date and vaccine efficacy. Accelerated stability and long term stability study performed for three batches of trivalent oral poliomyelitis vaccine (OPV) and three batches of monovalent OPV (type1) manufactured by Razi institute. After samplin...
full textStochastic Modeling of Vaccine-Derived Poliomyelitis
Since the introduction of vaccines against polio in the mid 1950s (Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV)) and the earl 1960s (Oral polio vaccine (OPV)), the control of polio has been successful. However, vaccine associated paralytic disease, which is caused by reversion of OPV, remains an unsolved issue in the present. Even though OPV has ability to induce a high level of intestinal immunity, it may ...
full textVaccine control of poliomyelitis in the 1980s.
The main challenge of vaccine control of poliomyelitis in the 1980s is in the subtropical and tropical regions of the world where "lameness" surveys in recent years have shown how very high the average annual incidence of paralytic poliomyelitis can be in both rural and urban areas in the absence of epidemics. The procedures by which oral polio vaccine (OPV) rapidly eliminated all or almost all...
